Grahamstown Games Day at The Workshop
The question is often asked: Why out there? Positioned in Rautenbach Road in the Industrial Area, The Workshop seems to break out of the perimeter of convenience created by the general proximity of shops and schools for completing day to day tasks in Grahamstown.
The benefit of being located in the industrial area is space and the potential for growth, however. Although underdeveloped at present, the industrial area has the potential to support existing and new businesses affordably. One such a business premises, The Workshop, currently consists of Bermuda Lawns and Landscaping, Noom and The Fitness Box. These businesses complement each other well and create a purposeful destination. It has been well received and supported since opening doors.
Bermuda Lawns and Landscaping has specialists that provide clients with projects such as estate development and sports field irrigation systems, sports field construction and smaller single residential properties. Some of the services offered include the installation of irrigation systems, instant lawns, landscape earthworks, garden design and supply of a large variety of plants.
Noom is a feel good eclectic mix of books, furniture, coffee and all things beautiful where customers can nurture their souls with a special cup of coffee while listening to the birds and tranquil water feature or allow their “inner child” to wander barefoot in the child friendly Zen garden.
Fitness Box and Crossfit Grahamstown is making waves in the local fitness industry by setting high standards of instruction in a friendly and welcoming environment, with specific training protocols in place to ensure high returns of fitness. Their training methods are simple – keep things interesting, constantly varied workouts from day to day, and at a high intensity.
Although The Workshop has been functioning for a period of time a Grahamstown Games Day is being organized for Saturday 2 September as a formal grand opening to introduce the space to the Grahamstown community. The Games Day will comprise a multi-disciplinary, mixed-team fitness challenge for both fun and serious athletes. The event hopes to draw in local fitness enthusiasts, as well as corporate and sponsored teams. Activities will include Mountain Biking, Trail Running, Indoor Rowing, a BootCamp-style workout and The Fitness Box obstacle course. There is an upper limit of 25 teams.
Various stalls will be positioned within the parking area. Combined with multiple activities and specials running on the day it will create an interesting and action-packed family outing. The Grahamstown Games has picked up some enthusiastic sponsors in Harcourts, Nutritech and The EyeStore, making for some thrilling prizes, both for the winners as well as spot prizes.
